This is a completely natural grasshopper fossil specimen from Lower Cretaceous of Liaoning, China. It has preserved in excellent detail. This is a special type of grasshopper with very short wing and bulky body.
No painted on this specimen.
The grasshopper is about 40mm in length, while the matrix is 210 x 130 mm.
Due to the fragile nature of this specimen, resin has been applied to the back of the thin slab for reinforcement.
